Account security and SMS codes
Your saleto.com mailbox is only as safe as the credentials and recovery options behind it. This guide explains the security features Saleto Mail provides and how SMS one-time passcodes fit into account verification.
Passwords and sign-in
Choose a unique password that you do not reuse on other sites. Prefer a password manager. If you suspect someone else used your password, change it immediately from account settings and review recent mailbox activity for unexpected folders, filters, or sent mail.
Sign-in may accept your mailbox email or a verified phone number, depending on how your account is configured. Keep both accurate so you are not locked out during travel or device changes.
Why we use SMS codes
Saleto Mail can send transactional SMS one-time passcodes when you request account security verification (for example during signup or when confirming a phone number). These messages exist to prove you control the phone number attached to the account. They are not marketing blasts.
Program details, consent language, and opt-out information are published on the public SMS Opt-In disclosure. Read that page before enabling phone verification if you need carrier-facing or compliance wording.
What we never send by SMS
- We do not ask you to share your password over SMS.
- We do not send gift-card or wire-transfer instructions by SMS as a “security check.”
- We do not use SMS for unrelated advertising campaigns.
If you receive a text that claims to be Saleto Mail but asks for money, passwords, or remote access to your computer, treat it as fraudulent and contact support@saleto.com.
Phone number hygiene
Only verify a phone number you control. If you change carriers or lose a number, update verification in settings promptly so codes do not go to the next owner of that number. Backup email verification, when available, provides a second recovery path.
Privacy boundaries
Security features collect the minimum information needed to authenticate you and protect the mailbox. How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. Support staff may ask identity questions when you request account recovery; they will not ask you to paste your password into email.
Practical checklist
- Use a unique password and store it in a manager.
- Verify a phone number you actually own if you enable SMS codes.
- Keep a backup email current when the product offers that option.
- Sign out of shared computers after using webmail.
- Report suspicious “Saleto” texts that demand money or passwords.
